I would suspect that you have a problem with the power supply that provides the static charge to the diaphragm. If the diaphragm is not fully charged, stats tend to sound weak in output.

I know it is very discouraging to have a problem, but, by their very nature, manufacturing defects do tend to show up early, not later. If a product survives and works for the first few months, that product will probably not have a problem for a very long time thereafter (it won't "wear out" for a long time). Inform the dealer, you probably have to have the speaker repaired.

By the way, I've heard this speaker and I personally think the new models (2805 and 2905) are the best speakers Quad has produced. Certainly they are a lot better than any of the 63 and modded 63s I've heard.
