I would suspect that you have a problem with the power supply that provides the static charge to the diaphragm. If the diaphragm is not fully charged, stats tend to sound weak in output.I know it is very discouraging to have a problem, but, by their very nature, manufacturing defects do tend to show up early, not later. If a product survives and works for the first few months, that product will probably not have a problem for a very long time thereafter (it won't "wear out" for a long time). Inform the dealer, you probably have to have the speaker repaired.
By the way, I've heard this speaker and I personally think the new models (2805 and 2905) are the best speakers Quad has produced. Certainly they are a lot better than any of the 63 and modded 63s I've heard.
