Yes, this design will drive such 'phones readily. It is effectively a small tube power amp and handles low impedance 'phones well, but has enough gain to do the lower efficiency models, as well.
I haven't gotten to the kit concept yet. As the design is, it would be an expensive kit (>>$2K), so I suspect that there wouldn't be much demand for it. However, I intend to try to simplify it without causing too much sonic damage. If that turns out to be possible, then we'll see.
