There's been much made of the sonic superiority of DSD recently. The question that plagues one when thinking about buying favorite recordings in yet another format (not to mention the hardware with which to play them) is whether the new one is likely to be really superior or not. For those of you who are curious or thinking about DSD format recording reproduction, the linked paper talks about the technology behind the DSD format and where its use makes sense. It doesn't answer the question posed above precisely, but will leave you better informed.
