An acrylic shop next to us made these transparent test cabinets. As a mini line array we're getting an easy 90+db eff., maybe later can get an official number on this.
These are giving some of the smoothest, most detailed sound I've heard. Of course physics dictates that dynamics aren't on par with the big cones, but what they do, they do exceptionally well. In the 8L box they are about 3db down at 110hz in our room; below that covered by the active bass units. Bandwidth limited by the sealed box so no extra filtering needed to crossover to the bass units. The Jordans' cover 100hz to 25k so this is fullrange sound with bass augmentation. Voices are so smooth and violins tones richly textured.
Have any other fullrange drivers been without rear suspension?
A lot of possibilities for small to medium size listening areas.
Hmmm, wonder if an 8" could be done this way.
Stay tuned.
