I am slowly getting a 401 set up on a heavy layered plinth with boards for two arms. Anyway, I am having difficulty and confusion about changing the 50 hz pulley for a 60 hz one. (I already installed a Keystrobe for emitting 50hz to the platter.) 1. I am finding it extremely difficult to remove the 50 hz pulley. I cannot even turn the tiny flat blade screws in the pulley mounting collar, as I am unable to provide enough torque with a miniature screwdriver coming in at an angle. It is also hard to avoid moving the motor shaft while trying to do that. Maybe I will have to fix (and perhaps damage) the old pulley with a vice grip while working on the screws. Are there strong miniature offset screwdrivers? Or perhaps I will have to take the thing to a machine shop to drill out the old screws. 2. Also I am confused about the new 60 hz pulley assembly I obtained from a company on Ebay. The collar thankfully uses hex screws. However, there are no holes to the underlying motor shaft through the brass pulley sleeve. Is the collar supposed to squeeze the brass sleeve against the motor shaft? Would it be hard to remove such a smashed sleeve? Or did they forget to drill holes in the sleeve? I would be grateful for any advice or suggestions. Thanks a lot. David |
