Stevie Ray and Double Trouble "In Step"
The cut Riviera Paradise, slow blues but really a waltz in 4/4 time is exquisitely recorded. Totally quiet and I feel like I'm in the club listening to them play. Kudos and Props to Analogue Productions, Quality Recordings, and Acoustic Sounds for this magnificent recording. Just plain wonderful.

Not bad for digital is it? I've got the 45 set and "In Step" is just beautiful. Very nice job.

The master of In Step is supposed to be digital. The rest of them have analog masters. I've never heard the CD, but I have no doubt the LP sounds better. AP make quality products.

I should have this on Wednesday or Thursday, really excited.

Any other listening impressions?

Speaking of SRV reissues, has anyone heard the Music on Vinyl Sky is Crying, and maybe compared it to to Chad's edition in his box set?

I know the MOV is almost certainly 24/96 digital at best but if it is half decent I would go for it.

Thanks

I picked up "In Step APB 099" yesterday. One of the many stickers on the plastic sleeve says "100% Analog Masters." Another states "Original Master Tapes."

Do any of those guarantee an all analogue process was used?

In Step is a digital recording. Mastered in this case from an analog tape of a digital recording.

It's stuff like this that gives the record labels a bad name IMO.

It's a jungle out there. Pretty sad.

Thanks. Regardless of marketing and pedigree, this is an excellent sounding recording.
