Sounds great and easy to find at thrift stores. Chet does a duet with Dolly Parton "Do I ever cross your mind" on The best of Chet Atkins & friends, which is a beautiful song. "Chet Atkins Picks on the Beatles" is an album most can enjoy as they already know the Beatles songs. Sometimes the recordings sound a bit "high fi spectacular" but always a lot of fun.

Here you go. This record is outstanding!

RE: "Chester and Lester", "Alone", "The First Nashville Guitar Quartet", "Chet Atkins/Merle Travis..., posted on June 26, 2016 at 16:38:19
... - The Atkins Travis Travelling Show". These are my four faves.

The Atkins/Knopfler album is one I don't have but it is supposed to be superb as well.

Most of his albums used background music as "filler" in order to cater to popular tastes of the time. These four are his relatively *pure* performances and the playing is exceptional.

Hell Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's a monster guitarist with generally great, posted on June 26, 2016 at 18:03:27

I have not come across Chet Atkins in Hollywood in the thrifts yet. I see that album is on HP Superlist. I hope to find it some day.

After you posted your message about "Me and Jerry" I checked my spreadsheet and sure enough I was supposed to have have it. I looked for quite a while and my son comes over and said it's in this stack. He was right. Now it is in the correct location in the Kallax record bin.

That one has been in our annual Christmas rotation since the early 60s. Fantastic!, posted on June 26, 2016 at 22:05:49

I also use his Christmas LP every year, but my one regret is that I have but have never listened to "The Night Atlanta Burned."

I have a few, the most recent being the very enjoyable "Chet Atkins - My Brother Sings," a 2015 Record Store Day reissue of a previously unobtanium duets record with Chet's brother, Jim.

A copy once sold for $8,100 but the RSD version is at Discogs for $14 new.

I grew up with his Xmas lp also...finally found a great, posted on June 27, 2016 at 08:38:54

My wife and I have several LP's and CD's. The only one I can think of that we played lately is Stay Tuned.
Are there some you would recommend?

The Album that I listen to the most is The Best of Chet Atkins & Friends.
(APL1-1985) Each song on the Album is Chet performing with another artist including but not limited to: Hank Snow, Jerry Reed, Ray Stevens, Dolly Parton, and Les Paul. Good music, some humor, and seems like genuine warmth between the artists.

The link is from the album duet with Dolly Pardon

enjoy

$2.98 on CD. Never have found an LP version. However, it
is available on cassette at Amazon for a mere $274.01 ...

If you aren't quite noticing or accepting what is really going on in the present,
but are responding based on your thoughts or feelings about what ought to be,
then you are apt to collide with what is really going on.

i believe it is also available as a dvd which i remember to be excellent. they are both so stoic while cranking out some quite busy tunes.

i grew up with and love his music but as many albums that he made that were GREAT, there are just as many that are just average.

All three are special. My favorite is 'The Other'. I have about a dozen of Chet's albums but these are my favorites. In Hollywood was reissued by Classic Records and Mr Guitar was reissued on Speakers Corner

"Stay Tuned" is a favorite I use to evaluate equipment. Its Chet playing with a wide variety of guests, from Boots Randolf to Mark Knofler. Great record.

Heck yes! Have since I was a kid in the 70s. He inspired me to be a professional guitarist. My playing has taken me in other directions (these days I play more like my friend/teacher Laurence Juber, Tommy Emmanuel, et al...but not as well!), but as it happens, in my dotage, I've returned to Chet style a bit. A great master. I know quite a few people who were close friends/colleagues.

Check out Chester and Lester:
http://www.1000recordings.com/music/chester-lester/

Also have Stay Tuned, and Mr. Atkins Guitar Picker.Need more Atkins vinyl.

Sails on CD is addictive sleeping music (that is a compliment, not a knock).
