I saw an lp and it was a Capitol and it said "Green Label" what does the green label mean if anything. Just trying to learn as I go along.
Thanks.

Sorry J. I cant get to your site you posted with my computer for some reason I was just curious the distinction of an Capital LP being a "green Label" was it pressed earlier, or produced by a differant company like I posted just trying to learn some facts as I go along too bad I could not view your site.
Thanks,

Do a Google search for Capitol Records green label and you'll come up with photos. The green label that I know of is the one with the little purple C on the label. The other, older looking label, is a take on Capitol Record's label from the early to mid-fifties.

you need to narrow the era down and hone in on the right one.

Below is linked a GREAT site to help you do so.

For example...
Let us assume that we are looking at Capitol Beatles albums and no other.

Like a particular album on an 'orange target' could have more value than just the regular orange lable. Same with green labels.

At any rate Capitol Beatles Lps were original on the Rainbow label, until The Beatles formed their own Apple label.... Starting with The white album, then Abbey Road and finally Let It Be...all Apple labels.

Reprints after those can be found on the Green and Orange labels, with and without targets,... up until mid seventies when Capitol went to their Purple label. And then in the early eighties Capitol returned to their Rainbow label. Yawn.

Original Rainbow label Beates albums can demand more dollars than the later reprint labels.
