I recently noticed that there are two different versions of the Technics SP25 table. One is similar to the SP10 with a small deck and arm mounted to the plinth. The other has a "full size" deck on which the arm is mounted.
What's the deal?? Same motor and specs?
Thanks.

As far as I know there was only one Sp-25, how it was set up after purchase was up to the buyer.

There was also a Garrard SP25 which fits one of your descriptions. You aren't confusing the two by any chance? Just wondering.

The SP25 is just the motor unit/platter. No arm.

The SL-1025 is the SP25 with EPA tone arm and base

As the Technics SP25 is (was) only a motor unit the OP's description of a "full size deck on which the arm iis mounted" does fit the Garrard SP25 as he seems to use the term "deck" in this instance as meaning the motor unit assembly to which the arm is fitted. Of course the Garrad is not in the same league as the Technics (though the Garrard started production years before the Technics and thus used the product name first).

yes same motor and specs, posted on August 29, 2015 at 09:04:12
different plinth and arm possibilities.
That should simplify things.

I'm taking a guess that the OP is discussing the Technics SP-25 in the SL-1025 configuration, motor/tonearm/plinth. Technics offered three plinths for the SP-25 which wuld also accommodate the SP-15, the SH15B1, SH15B2 and SH15B3. The SH15B1 was rosewood veneer, larger and had a smoked dustcover, this might be what he is referring to but this one was commonly found with the SP-15/SL-1015 but probably could be special ordered.
