For approx. two weeks (since I received the Vinyl Flat flattener + Groovy Pouch) I've been trying to flatten my warped LP records - old and new. I was surprised to learn that new releases (180g) are much more easy to repair than older ones (1980's and 1990's production). I wonder why - new 180g and 200g releases are much thicker and one could imagine that they should be less susceptible to heat than thinner records. I wonder what makes thinner and older records so persistent and what makes modern records ussceptible to heating process? Vinyl composition? Vinyl quality? I managed to cure 4 or 5 modern 180g vinyl records (which took 4 or 5 hours on average) and never succeeded with older records - they remain warped even after 11 hours in the Groovy Pouch. |

It could be that some of the plasticizer has bled out of the old records, making them less pliable. |

No, it doesn't have a temperature control. |
