I just got the new 45 RPM The Yes Album from Friday Music and I must say the packaging leaves me baffled. Why does it need to be a box set? It's just a double album fer cryin' out loud. Tarzan confused. Not know what do.

They sure have an interesting lineup of 45 redos. I have several Fridays reissues but no 45's. Wasn't aware of their catalog. Very cool, however one definitely pays for it!$ Jazz presses are even more!

I find a trade off of no scratches/ticks for punched up unnatural bass compared to period presses-Trower,Winter,Close to the Edge.

I suppose YMMV always applies? A 45 of Close(or is it even possible?)
would be great.

I agree. I picked up the Rickie Lee Jones 2 x 45 rpm box set and hate the packaging. The booklet has staples in it that can come in contact with the vinyl.

The albums are now in separate jackets, and the box takes up so much space that I stuck it on the wall just to get it out of the way.

It's 33 for me from here on out.

Even if they made a 45 RPM version of Close To The Edge I probably wouldn't buy it. I have had the MFSL pressing since new and it's so damn good I just don't see any reason to buy anything else. But then, that's just me. If they do make one I hope they tone down the packaging a bit. It just seems unnecessary.

On the other hand, having one more layer between the outside world (dust) and my beloved music can't be all bad.

How does it sound? Friday Music can be hit or miss.
