I replaced the stock motor plate and tone arm board with 4mm carbon fiber ones. I installed both last night and listened through headphones. This morning, before going into work, I took a quick listen. Seems to work fine but whether it better than the ones I replaced it with is yet to be determined. However, initial listening seems to give this a slight edge. With all the mods, this table is incredibly quiet, dynamic and detailed. As a quick reminder, I replaced the faulty motor with an Origin live, which is doing a wonderful job! Added a Mitchell Technoarm and just got my Glider back from Soundsmith. Finally, It rests on a sandbox with two slabs of granite on top. This does a great job of isolating it from mechanical vibrations. In general, I am really pleased with this final version and now I can focus my energy on other aspects of my system. |
