I replaced the stock motor plate and tone arm board with 4mm carbon fiber ones. I installed both last night and listened through headphones. This morning, before going into work, I took a quick listen.

Seems to work fine but whether it better than the ones I replaced it with is yet to be determined. However, initial listening seems to give this a slight edge.

With all the mods, this table is incredibly quiet, dynamic and detailed. As a quick reminder, I replaced the faulty motor with an Origin live, which is doing a wonderful job! Added a Mitchell Technoarm and just got my Glider back from Soundsmith.

Finally, It rests on a sandbox with two slabs of granite on top. This does a great job of isolating it from mechanical vibrations.

In general, I am really pleased with this final version and now I can focus my energy on other aspects of my system.

So what is your fascination with carbon fiber? Is it suppose to be better than other materials? Or do you just like to experiment? Inquiring minds want to know......

Stiffness ratio is pretty incredible, as well as the layup of fibers can help with vibration control.....but experimenting is fun, too.

Further listening lends me to believe that no harm was done and that there appears to be a clearer presentation. Again, the table is amazingly quiet and really fast. It appears to let what is in front of it do its thing with out adding to the sonic picture.

I think it will remain on the table. And, yes, I'm a tweaker and this sort of thing is an easy one to play with.
