I have an old empire 4001 e/x cartridge and would like to try it out.
I see that there are some aftermarket styli on the bay and other web sites.
Any suggestions on a stylus, providing that I don't get lucky and find an original? If any one has specs on the 4001 I would appreciate the information. It is not listed on Vinyl Engine data base.

I got a Jico replacement stylus for Empire 4001 e/x from Carol's needles.
Worked great. Very surprised at how good this cartridge is.
Wide sound stage, ephemeral midrange and no sibilance on high end.
Compared to my Shure M95ed not quite as much bass kick but it is enough. It also handles surface noise well.Tracking on Denon 1200 at 1.5 grams with no issues.
Happy to put the Empire back into active duty.

The vinyl engine (cartridge database) for the specs.
turntableneedles.com for a styli, probably a few options there.

After 10 hours of use with Jico (EV) aftermarket stylus found better sound at 1 gram of weight and corresponding anti-skating.
