Stop it with that science bs!

Maybe distortion is the reason why it can't be comprehended. -nt, posted on December 13, 2014 at 05:39:57

He was ice skating before it was cool.

"Hipsters" remind me of beatniks and hippies and punks and Goth's and Greens and all the other subcultures of society...

Everybody's trying to be different, just like everyone else. It's the passive/aggressive superiority they often convey that bugs me.

But I guess we shouldn't criticize too much because audiophiles can come across that way as well.

Regards,
Tom

IMO:"Hippies, beatniks, punks, and skins" as the saying goes, were all some sort of outsider movement/art/social group. Real sub-cultures, until they were widely approved. The hipster thing is just a bunch of younger people dressing exactly the same without any sort of unifying artistic or social output. I'm not sure the hipsters are providing anything other than tight pegged pants.

Hi, Pete,
Your comment "...without any sort of unifying artistic or social output" is what society used to say of hippies and punks. I think it's more about the younger generation distancing themselves from the perceived trappings of their parents generation. I think those tight pegged pants are an analogy to flares and bell-bottoms, and are representive of their aversion to L.L. Bean and Lands' End chinos, Goretex, and Darn Tough socks. :-)

Regards,
Tom

Here in Austin the Mexican meat markets sell Hipsters at 49 cents per pound - a little over priced and tough as nails - my dogs won't even eat em!
