Take your original mat on your Empire turntable. Flip it over. Put it back. Listen. You should hear an obvious bass depth extension. You will also hear a slight darkening of the mid-band and the highs will become a tad more subdued. Overall, there will be more weight and authority to the presentation, similar to what you would experience with a good rim drive. Of course there are probably better mats to use, but this one is easy and you already own it. Try and report your findings!
