I was interested in hearing from folks who may have heard the new Parasound JC3+ and 1)how much improvement it may be over the original JC3 and 2) how competitive it may be with other solid state phono stages at this price point like the Pass Labs XP15.

had the JC3 for about a year. At RMAF in 2013, Richard Schram told me how much of an improvement the JC3+ was, especially for the money. Not to mention the dream team of designers, notably John Curl. Remember the Vendetta Research? So I decided to upgrade about six months ago. The + is sonically far superior to that of it's predecessor. Most notably better bass extension. Like the original, all dual mono (Curl goes to great lengths for vibration control) and you will love the dual, variable load potentiometers for cartridge loading. Curl left them out on the JC3 because he could not find any that were quiet enough. I noticed a significant difference when I first turned it on over that of the standard model. As the + began to break in, it just got better and better. The thing is eerily silent. I did an A/B of a $5000.00 phonostage and I actually liked the + better. As did the dealer who brought the demo model over. I think the JC3+ is a fantastic value and a very impressive improvement over the JC3. While I do not have first hand experience with the Pass Labs XP15, I would suggest you give the JC3+ a try. I think you will be impressed. I was.
