I'm considering getting a Rega RP10 turntable (for a second system) but I'm not a fan of the Rega carts.

Which of the following MC carts would you recommend for the Rega RP10?

Dynavector XX-2 MKII
Ortofon Cadenza Bronze
Lyra Kleos

Can't speak to the Ortofon or Lyra, but I've heard the Dyna and want one - badly!!, posted on October 30, 2014 at 05:28:24

I've owned the 20XL for years and have always enjoyed its sound. The XX-2 is just more of it.

I have an XX2 mk.II on my P9 right now and it sounds pretty good, mated with the P75 mk.III phono stage. Are you thinking about moving on from the Bardo or would the RP10 be a secondary table?

Ortofon, hand's down!

IMHO- Just buy it, put it on the table, and start listening to MUSIC, not records. Done Deal...

I use a Lyra Delos on my P9 and am very pleased with it - best cartridge I have owned. Please keep us informed of the RP10 andyour impressions. I compared it with my P9; Trade-in + $3200 = RP10. I did not hear a $3200 difference.

I'd go for the Dyna..., posted on October 30, 2014 at 13:35:57

Having heard and put Lyra, Ortofon, and Dyna carts on various Rega turntables over the years, I think the character of the Dyna compliments theRega tables sound character best (not saying this becuase I'm a Dyna dealer either). I have not heard a Lrya Kelos yet, but based on experience with other Delos carts, that would be a close second on the P10.

Ultimately the choice depends not only on the turntable, the sound of the phono preamp that will be used as well personal preference (for example I'm not much of a resolution nut, so I like cats which tend to be a bit more sweet/musical in character, especially when considering a table like the RP10 is pretty fleet, quick, and dynamic performer).

Congrats on getting the RP10... Just moved a customers Benz Ruby onto one about a month ago... Now that was a nice combination to my ears!

Happy Listening,
