Help -- my Marantz amp is a tuner

I'll also post something on the tweaks asylum, but I thought somebody may have run across this problem. I bought a vintage Marantz 16B amplifier recently and when I plug it in it has serious RFI problems -- about 5 radio stations come in quite clearly (and loudly) along with humming & buzzing. I've tried shielded interconnects, speaker cables, grounding the chassis, nothing can get it quiet. Any other ideas?

Steve

WOW! You got the special limited edition. Actually, some 16s I had years ago would exhibit this problem. Marantz had a silent recall so I just shipped them back when I ran across the problem. I also owned several 16b amps but never had any problem. I do not know what was done at Marantz on the 16s.

You might try clamping a ferrite donut on the AC cord just before it enters the chassis. And maybe cores on the devices attached to the amp. Had a similar problem with a EL84 amp, but the source of the RF pickup was the AC cord of the electronic XO driving the power amp.
