This was just before I went to work for Westinghouse and I was living in St.Claire Shores because I was doing sub contract work for Ford Aerospace. I think my rent was like 450 a month and this house was out in the country and the landlord was a ham and had a 40 ft tower up and a Cushcraft beam that he never took down.It worked out great because he retired and moved to Fla and he used to be on what we called the Tin Lizzie net.I forgot I scanned this photo.I don't have the B&W 5100 anymore but you guys have seen the rest of this gear. Two of these receivers I got from Ben,the guy that owned the house.Life was sure simple back then.

Aaaaaah my Ham days. Unfortunately when I was going for my general licence I was in my early teens. A small Marantz, a joint, some friends, a 89 cent six pack of Schaffer bear and Led Zepplin - COME ON~!!!!!

We did have a very nice Ham club in high school. The teach that ran it was Mr. Farkus. He was a total bastard outside the club. But once he got in front of those radios he was really just a regular nice guy. And we actually did like him. But outside - what a butt head. I remember he had a radio with hand mike in his car. How he drove a stick shift and used that thing we never figured it out???

Yeah I bet that's still there!!!

WOW!! That is beyond nice. Do you still have/use any D-104s? I have 3 or 4 of them around here. Use them with the old "white-face" Johnson Messenger 1 that I inherited from Dad. Also use them with the Omni-C and the Yeasu F101B and the antique Swan Signant 270B.

I love radios and tubes. And 40 meters. And 20 too......

Oh yes.
I have three of them and one more that is called a Golden Eagle that someone gave me and I took that stupid power module out of there that CB people use,the one that operates off a 9v battery. My favorites tho are the EV664 and the EV cardyne 2 mics.On AM or SSB which I seldom use,the audio reports I get from people are excellent and they can hear my cat purring when she's on my lap.

I sometimes think I'd like to get rid of, or bypass, the amplifier. I went on line and tried to find some information about how to wire the mic without the amp but never had any success finding that information.

I did find a link to a page that some guy made about how he designed/built his own amplifier.

Do you have a schematic showing how to do that, or any other information about wiring up the mic without the amplifier?

Thanks in advance,
roN
