The volume and balance slider controls that come with vintage amps such as the Marantz equipment. Are these very accurate? Opinions please....

They are pretty accurate for what you are using them for. If you are having a problem it most likely needs a REALLY good DeOxit cleaning. Or else it needs attention because of a failing cap or tone transistor going south.

Correct me if I am wrong (and I have an SAE preamp that I plan to work on soon), but Fader Lube wouldn't hurt also.

plus, I am not certain that plain-vanilla DeOxit is safe and appropriate for all slide pots.

Caution is indicated.
all the best,

Thank you, I obviously did not know that and will order some.

Where did you get it and is it OK for potentiometers and switches as well?

You are welcome! I went to the Caig sight (store.caig.com) and it depends on the conductive material. It looks like what I called Fader Lube is now calls Fader F series and is for conductive plastic and carbon. For non ferrous metal, they recommend Gold. I bought mind at a local musical instrument store, but you can buy it all over the internet.
