I have been using Koa Speer carbon films of late for cathodes & plates in the 2 watt range, but was wondering how the Ohmites in the same range compare? The price difference is quite large, like around 1/4 the price. Thanks!

I show at most a 50% difference....which amounts to less than 50 cents each. Try the big boys like mouser, etc. However if you like the KOA's, then I'd spend the extra money for peace of mind.

I'm partial to quality wirewounds in that size but now we are talking a good bit more. I find few locations that call for that wattage so overall cost is modest.

FWIW, I have found the 1/2 watt radio shack carbon films to be quite decent.

Keep in mind vishay has purchased darn near every leading resistor brand over the years so I don't think you would go wrong by looking there too.

Yaego might also be a name to consider.
