 I've just discovered that the entire archive of "Popular Science" from 1872-2009 is available for free on Google books.

Lets say you want to read the article that profides the construction details for building a "Gough" enclosure That would be November, 1961 starting on pp 168. Never mind that I have the musty paper issue on my coffee table here.

Comments on the Gough enclosure are welcome.

 there are articles in Wikipedia and a Web site run by the inventor's son

 Thanks, I'll have to look thru some of those older issues of PS. They probably stopped at 2009 because PS became worthless about that time. Cancelled my subscription several years ago...

 I like when he says that what you are hearing is the true bass, not some artificially augmented garbage (paraphrasing of course) Seems like a fun project to try out.

 OMG! Many years ago there was a pair of those in a thrift store with a pair of EV 8" full ranges in them. I thought of buying them to pirate the full range speakers, but I could not bear the thought of trashing the well made cabinets, which I did not have room for. So I left them and somebody else bought them. I never know what they were until now!
