I have an HK 430 and an HK 730, both need work and both look pretty good cosmetically. I may be able to treat myself and have one restored. Which one? Thanks Norm

Both are nice receivers. I would vote for the 730. The 40 watts would give a tad more headroom than the 25 watt 430. Why not go through them both?

EV esquires. I listen to vinyl 90% of the time and FM the rest of the time. Norm

I am partially retired, not by choice, so money matters. I don't think I could do both. N

I browsed over the schematics and they are both virtually identical. The minor differences are in of course the power of the amp section and the FM tuner, which is a tad bit better in the 730. If that is important to you?

Soooooooo - the question is which one do you like more?

Have the one that you seem to gravitate to more restored. In my humble opinion I have always found that the lower powered units sound a bit nicer. I did have the 930 and 430 for a while and I did preferred the 430 much more. But I was in my searching days and had to keep a-move-en on!

Neither is working very well, so it's hard to, posted on May 14, 2016 at 07:02:09

know which would be more preferable to my tastes until both are equally restored and then A B'd to compare one to the other. Both have fine reputations and I suspect I will like the one I get restored no matter what, but I just wonder about peoples' personal experiences, and your own experience is helpful. That was what I was looking for. Thanks Norm

Power doesn't matter much with the Klipsch not sure on the EV. My friend had both growing up not at the same time to my Marantz 2230. I liked the 730 but I've heard the 430 was the one.

In that case I would start with the lower powered unit. It will be a little simpler and you don't really need the extra power.
