On "Better Call Saul" last night. Jimmy's pompous lawyer brother cues up Bill Evans' "Sunday at the Village Vanguard" while his violinist wifey prepares dinner. At least they picked good music.

Giant receiver with front like a lighted billboard. Didn't sell too well, according to "The Vintage Knob" web site. It was $1,900(!)and a bit late to the Seventies party.

Sansui made a Model 3000, a G-3000 and a G-33000. Model 3000 was a early receiver with a bout 50 wpc, and the G-3000 was a late 70's receiver with a whopping 26 wpc, so I assume you mean the monster G-33000, which boasted 300 wpc. Having been an equipment shopper in the late 70's I can tell you that, at least in my area, nobody paid list price for anything. The Japanese had dumped huge quantities of audio equipment on the U.S. market and stores were cranking it off of the shelves with deep discounts. At the time, I felt that you were a fool if you paid more than half list-price. I doubt that many people paid $1900 for one of these. However, even at a discount, Sansui separates would have been a better deal, and they looked much cooler with the gorgeous black faceplates.

I re-checked The Vintage Knob web site, and indeed it is the G-33000 receiver. I've included a link this time.

I don't know what the heck is wrong w/me today. It was a sighting, not a "siting."

I still use my Mitsubishi DA-P20 preamp-
I have the smallest matching amp and meter set- but some DIY 'upgrades' have rendered them intermittent performers - ...
Some of those separates were/are great!
Happy Listening

I remember that stuff. I don't know about reselling but for you own use, it is probably worth fixing.

Watching the season finale last night, Chuck is in his garage hunting for something with the aid of a lantern (he can't take electric light). Sitting on a shelf is the receiver he had in his former home. That's one of the things that makes this series so great to watch--attention to detail.

Crazy Dave,

You must be talking about Dixie HiFi!

Nobody ever paid anywhere close to retail.

He may be averse to electrical fields but no way he'll give up that Sansui.
