I've stumbled across one at a local record store that also sells used equipment, and it looks great and the proprietor says it's been refurbished and is operating perfectly. I gather these were made in 1979 and 1980.

Anyone heard one of these? Impressions?

Came a little too late to be too successful, though, methinks.

Good stuff.

Stay away from Philips solid state amp's.
Famous for crossover distortion, transient intermod. distortion and fragile build.

Early 70'ties loudspeakers good, especcially the DIY range.

Generally these get high praise. So if you like it then that's all that counts.

But DO post YOUR review - please. I would like to hear more about this.

I think these came along too late in the "amp wars" of the 70s-early 80s to be appreciated.

Well, I don't own it yet, but I'm tempted, posted on November 16, 2015 at 05:52:49

The price is right if it's fully operational, but my wife is "helpfully" pointing out that we have no need for it. And she's right. It would displace a really nice Heathkit recover that's been refurbished a few years ago. At least unless and until I can find the place to build an additional system around it! :-)

But it's partially a nostalgia thing since I had an entry level Philips receiver from the same line of equipment in my first "real" stereo back in 1979. And I had a Philips turntable then and have one now that I bought used. So . . .

I will definitely post my impressions if I buy it.

Ah yes, why do I need another stereo.

When you do find the "Killer" reply please let us all know ;-)

No one needs thirty five stereos. But at one point most of us had that many. Now I'm down to two main systems and one workshop system.

I am happy but sometimes that itch does reoccur. But I use Vulcan logic to talk myself down off that ledge.
