Good tester using a variant of the Hickock circuit. Easier to use than most, as many tubes have a dedicated socket - set heater voltage, set load, plug in and push the three buttons for shorts, grid leakage, and transconductance test. And a fourth for dual section tubes.

Downside is 0-120 scale instead of direct transconductance, good 12AX7s read about 20% of full scale (there's a mod that will make them read 100%), and tubes that don't match the prewired sockets can only be tested for emission. 6DJ8 are tested for emission, according to the chart - they probably oscillate in the transconductance test.

I remember going to the Wheaton Pharmacy with my father to test the TV tubes with one of those. He taught me how to work it. I can't have been very old.

Have one. It is very similar to the 707. Most tubes are tested in the top part which measures transconductance.

The bottom part tests only for emissions. So tubes like 7199 or 7868 are tested only for omissions.

Easy to use tester and does most tubes.
