MDF covered with wood veneer, from what I can see. I'm thinking it may have been a DIY project, where you buy the cabinets and drivers,etc, and then put them together. This store is a thrift, but they want $125 for them. A bit too rich for my blood. thanks, Dan

There may not be any passive parts inside the enclosures. Should that be the case, tri-amplification and an active crossover were employed. Eli D.

If they are duds then who ever did them used good quality drivers.

The tweeter looks familiar but I can't ID it. The mid is a nice looking poly cone. And the woofer has a rubber surround with what looks like a paper cone - also nice.

The cabinet may also be a home built. Some one did a nice job on these. What they sound like???????????

Rule of thumb - three ways were actually far harder to build then originally planned. I see they are sealed. So the midrange cone will be effected by back pressure from the woofer. Not a good thing.

Also you will have no info on the drivers if choose to tweak the crossover, if any? In the old days a crossover was very rudimentary. Some basic parts to crudely and usually by ear, adjust the rolloffs of the drivers. Your results may vary!

Make an offer???? You could reuse the cabinets and maybe salvage a lot of parts?

Vifa produces good solid quality components. They do vary on sound quality, ie cone materials, but generally their drivers are better than average. Even in the DIY crowd.

A number of very high end speaker manufacturers used their drivers. Again results did vary.
