Or might accidentally create the largest roman candle in a living room depending on the size of your speakers. Not to be used with preamps that burp on power up. Or users which like to hot swap DACs or sources with the system powered up.

In all honesty I wouldnt even know if this could POSSIBLY be used as an audio amp. My non EE mind leads me to think it may be a AC motor test amp. Shaker table amp, so on... In seeing its freq response I assumed it MIGHT be capable of use as an audio amp given the right nut from out camp of thought for kicks.

Stumbled on it by accident looking for another brand of amp. When I saw the pic and read the description I had to laugh knowing our kind. I stand by my assertion of crowning any nut using a pair of these for home audio use, audiophile of year however!

Seems a great price consider what others are selling for.

Have fun with it. And please educate my naive self just what one would use such an amp for in the test world if so inclined???

An old Lynard Skynard amp?

It's the NeighborHater brand isn't it?

Just what I need for my Minimum 7s. I doubt the seller plugged the amp in. I doubt it is designed for a normal wall socket ot the typically 15 amp circuit.

Appears to be a typical reseller of lab gear. Just look at his other items up for sale.

I agree its quite likely a 220v power.

I was thinking test some 5" full rangers I yanked out of a boom box ;)

I think you should use some Fostex 104db sensitive 4.5" high efficiency speakers. Or you can use it as a cigarette lighter.

1100 Volts RMS. Thats just nuts.

Most high power "audio" amps top off at 40-90 at best.

That sucker clearly was built to drive something other than speakers!

How does anyone not love this thing?!? First 10 pages of the manual warn you of its dangers.

Its the total audiophile package... Look:

Its as big as a fridge. Probably weighs more.

Everyone you know who doesnt know the name Mark Levinson, will ask; what is that? What does it do? How much did it cost?

It consumes more energy than your air conditioner.

Is impractically powerful.

Has tighter technical specs than ones car engine.

And the best part, IT CAN KILL YOU!!!

This thing exudes audiophile desire.

It quite possibly could have replaced Bo Derek in 10 ;)

I LOVE IT!!!

Looks like a "hi-Pot " test amp-
for Intrinsically Safe electronics (Used in hazardous locations - think grain elevator, off shore platform, refinery) before they can be sold/shipped they go through a process of "HI_POT" testing where based upon the claims of the device under test - there is NO POSSIBLE way for voltage to escape - causing an arc - which could ignight the hazardous condition that the unit is installed in-
Years ago I worked for a firm where we made lots of devices certified for Haz Locations - Groups C & D - refineries etc - the testing was pretty scary from my perspective - but then again so is testing the amplifier for a Beveridge Model 2/SW
Happy amplifying

For real that makes total sense. I wont lie, Id never have guessed that use. Appreciate the education.

And I cant say I know much about the Beveridge electrostat speakers. Do they operate at even higher levels than say, logans, sound labs, quad.... so on... I remember hearing something like the MBL speakers operate at such a high voltage they create "somewhat" large amounts of Ozone near the field. I imagine many electrostat speakers do.

Ill never forget the first time I watched this video after the news broke. The scale of that plant blowing up, the first sight of the explosion and the sound of it catching up... my god that was one frighting show of power. Again if amps like this can prevent such outcomes, lets build em twice as powerful ;)

...they run only +/- 3,200VDC inside and +/-1,600VDC to the panels. Just need the correct HV probe and understanding of what you're doing.

Their first audio-phile ;) amplifier was accidentally created while trying to build a super amp that was to be used for driving an iron press for a factory. Someone mistakenly connected the plants PA to said amp. The amp was so powerful it picked up an IPOD of a nearby worker and MotorHead started playing throughout the entire plant. The sound and clarity was so astounding inspiration struck. It is said that in development and testing it took 25 Dar T Zeel amplifiers to equal the power and quality of one of their newly developed units.

Hence the company slogan.

Or so a little green man told me :)

Still would be neat if under low power it could be used for audio. Again unlikely I assume....

Oh, the Lirpa Dreadnought. It was a prototype amp generating 1,000wpc and optimized to the Lirpa speakers. Jumper cable between amp and speakers.

Here's some new cable I've been looking at. I just can't find banana plugs big enough for it:)
