Mike, I need to pick your brain about an atypical tube gear question. I'm looking for a preamp in my price range. About $600-800. This is going to be for a new NAD C275BEE amp with switchable 10k and 100k inputs. Ok, before you blow a rectifier, this is only a secondary system AND to hold me until I can get a CitV.

I just can not consider getting a CitV now because I may be relocating. And I REALLY do not want to box and cart ANOTHER amp. After I settle in I will either go for the CitV or maybe one of Bob Latino's 70 or 120 kits.

What do you think of these preamps for use with either amp? And what is your opinion about this preamp. My second option was a Rogue Metis. but I really did not want to get into upgrading and DIYing any more gear. I just want to basically plug and play. But the kit looks like fun.

If you are looking for new stuff, its very nice stuff for the money. He uses some of the very best quality circuit boards in the industry and he has updated some of the best and early circuitry we have all come to like.
I have known Roy for years and you get a lot for your money when you get his kits or Bob Latino's amps.

They looked very good from what I could tell, and I really like that he offers tone controls. It is nice to read that you think so highly of them, Mike.

I thought we were talking about the VTA-Z preamp in the link provided Airtime. Also the Stereo 70 with 6SN7 driver stage look interesting too. You have posted that you prefer the KT88/6550 to the EL34, though.

Besides tone controls, are there any differences that should sway me towards one or the other?

I do not need tone controls and do not need phono section
