Overall the sound is very good from the receiver. However, I noticed that the stereo, mono, reverse, L and R knob is not doing anything anymore as I switch through the settings. Also, the right channel is consistently louder on various recordings., making me shift the balance quite a bit to get a centered soundstage. Any thoughts on this?

Do you think anyone did some work inside there?

I once bought a Marantz 250 amp that someone rigged both channels together.

Start with some DeOxit on the controls. Then resort to more serious concerns.

Hi Charles,
I did have problems with a channel dropping out years ago and had a good tech, who sold me the piece in 2006, work on it. He decided it was the internal pre out main in switch and so I keep jumpers hooked up now. Maybe he missed something there.

there is a possibility that the knob may be spinning without grabbing on to the splined shaft to change the function. Pull the knob off and see if its cracked at the base where it meets the splined shaft.

Hi mike,
The knob still clicks in to each setting as it always id, does that indicate it is not cracked?
