I picked up a 7189A integrated stereo amp today by Olson labled AM-240-A and it easily has the biggest 7189 OTs I've ever seen. Uses five 12AX7s and SS rectifier. I will try to get a pic up tonight.....

Chances of finding repair info for any Olson labeled unit is at best almost impossible. They did not release any so, it any existed it was restricted to their service centers. Even the stores could not get copies when we requested it.

Most units were single production run bid contract fullfillmentss. If units came in under warranty it was sent to the service center if none were in stock at the store. Many times we would receive it back with instructions to give the owner a full purchase credit towards another model as some unique part was not in stock. If out of warranty the credit was pro-rated unless the customer screamed and then a full credit was given. If there was not a comparable unit at or close to the same price and under warranty we could wave the difference. If it was a speaker, they were not even looked at but a new pair of speakers given of similar design and price and the defective speakers junked. We were supposed to smash them before dumping but new hires usually took them home and eventually end up with multiple pairs. Old timers, like me, did not even bother except in a couple of cases when we knew the drivers had potential.

That is the same integrated amp as CalRad used in one of theirs so that schematic is around..I'm a member of radio museum and I will see if they have one I can print for you.

I think that the Calrad amp you are thinking of (SA 30?) uses 6BM8 tubes in push pull. There are schematics for the Calrad on the Web.

I have one of the SA-30s that use the ECL82s but I thought they had an EL84 version but maybe I'm thinking of a different one.

Sams folder 565-7 covers the Calrad SA-30. Has potted transformers, tube rectifier, 6BM8s. Does look similar from the front though...

The audio transformer is under the metal box. Fisher & Eico have much larger audio transformers.

However, your AM-240-A is a nice find.

Yes, they are in cases but they are still Very large for 7189 tubes. I have seen amps with the same outputs with iron 1/3rd the size.

Sony,
I'm trying to contact you by AA email but it won't go through. Any suggestions? Thanks,
John
