I have a speakers wired with banana plugs and I would like to be able to connect them into a SX-1010 receiver without changing the cable.

Any advice or preferred approaches to adapting banana plugs to the push-in wire terminals on a mid 70s Pioneer receiver with push in terminals?

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I can't find anything specific.

thanks!

I got some time ago gold plated pin terminals from Radio Shack that a banana jack will fit into snuggly and hold. The pins are of 2 types, 1 flat with a fairly flexible base metal good got use with recessed terminals and the other is round with little flex, not designed to be bent. It has a series of grooves to help with the spring terminals ability to bite and hold the pins and not slide.

The other option would be to make a set of adaptors using the female jack with a length of wire attached and covered with shrink wrap. Of course you then can terminate the bare wires with the above mentioned terminals if not into bare wire.

I've ordered some inline banana sockets

and will compare those to a jury rigged pin system, I've thought of.

Another option is to forgo adapters and upgrade the output terminals. I have done a number of upgrades where I replaced one-way/two-way posts and push-in terminals with 5-way posts. See the following link to an extensive thread on the subject an AudioKarma forums. I have some of my upgrades posted there. You may get some ideas from the thread.

I got some of these for an amp that has impossible connections and used bare wire to this banana jack. Same thing needed for a Triplett meter, female banana for the probes.

Nice soft plastic and a good strong fit of the metal section with a good solder well for the wire.

Chet, I have just what you need and I can't recall where I got them from but they seem pretty simple to make up. I took a few photos of them and if I can figure out how to upload them here you will get to see them. They are nothing more than braided copper with a tinned end about a half inch long with the other end crimped onto a connector that will accept and banana plug with a piece of shrink tubing in red and another in black.
