Power Conditioner Recomendations

 My power amp was emitting a slight hum at all times even on standby. I disconnected it from my PS 4.7 Power Conditioner and plugged it to the wall and hum is gone. I'm guessing my power conditioner is starting to
fail. For security purpose I think I should get a new one

Can anybody recommend a good unit that won't cost me a fortune.

 If you could stretch the budget some (~$2500), the PurePower 1500+ is one you should consider. It is a re-generator with battery backup. I run everything through mine including power amps. With the batteries in the chain it can over short periods provide even more current than is available at the wall, making it ideal for power amps too. Without knowing your exact setup it is difficult to know for sure that the capacity of the 1500+ is right for you. They do offer larger capacity models, but then you'd most definitely be out of your target price range.

 Yes, they are. I own two of their re-generators. Bought my first one in 2008. They are small company out of Canada. There are a number of US dealers for PurePower. There are plenty of reviews out there if you'll Google for them. Heck, even Romy the Cat reviewed them on his blog.

 No. It's the 1500+. PurePower had a problem with a former US dealer a few years ago, who tried to steal their design and have essentially knock-off units made in China. They went through an extensive court battle over it. Anyway, check the link below to the real PurePower.

 Yes, I believe it is. They did have production in China for a short period, but have now in-sourced production and everything is now built in Canada.

there is not too many power conditioner(s) where one would plug -in his power amp. The power amp is best suited by plugging directly into wall outlet.

I use a Richard Gray Pro400 for well over 10 years now w/o issue.
This is a 4- outlet power/line conditioner. The next step up is the 600/600s which sports 6-outlets. Again, not suggestive of connecting to one's power amp.

 I have used the PurePower 1500+ regenerator in my system for the last 3 years. My whole system is plugged into it and it made a significant upgrade to the sound of my system including dynamics. I was once listening in the dark and when I went to turn on the lights I realized there was a power failure. Never noticed the switch over to the backup battery

 Buying used saves plenty.
Some items like the ones I bought take a while to find used..
But a good knowledge of which ones are worth it then waiting for one of them to show up.
Both I bought were local too! (Local being within 100 miles)
Saved me a LOT on shipping.
One weighs 80 pounds, the other about 50 pounds!

And just because it causes a hum does not mean the one you own is 'failing'.
All it probably needs is a capacitor replaced.

 I just found a Demo Furman IT Reference 16EI is this unit a good option?
Price 800US.

 That story is a great testament to the product. I have a 1500+ on the audio rig and a 1050 on my video rig. Could not be happier with them both. Recently had the 1050 repaired by them. The experience couldn't have been better.

I took your advice and purchased the Furman...al 80lbs of it.
Canīt wait to get this gargantuan regenerator to power my rig.
I think I did real good with the price.

 It is true there may be a trade off when plugging an amplifier into a conditioner (of any sort).
However any 'blanket statement' about the choice is of little use to anyone except the most gullible.

The trade off may be in constricted dynamics with (but not always)
or a leaner sound with. Again but not always)
To far better clarity with than without. (true but not always)

The CHOICE is in the listeners ears, and not some pundits ideology.
Since it is 'free' to try if one owns a conditioner. A few hours FUN playing around finding out which way one prefers for oneself is a 'no brainer'.
Now it may be you tried it over and over with dozens of amplifier, power cord and conditioner combinations over years of trial and error..
Still does not make it any sort of rule, other than your personal opinion.
(though do have to say others have also expressed this notion, along with as many saying what I am, that it has to be tested personally, wall or conditioner)

For my own use.. I find I prefer the amplifier to be powered from my Furman REF20i conditioner. I have gone back to the wall to see if my opinion has changed... but I always go back to the amp plugged into the conditioner. It just sounds better to me.
My reason is the music has a bit more clarity. And no loss of dynamics. The one slight loss is in warmth, the sound is very slightly leaner.
Others may find from the wall is better.
But it is a personal listening choice. And no way can be some guru telling others.

And to folks who can't hear any difference? Don't worry, be happy. But when you upgrade just about anything, check the difference again. You will sooner or later find you CAN hear a difference.
