Looking to make my own interconnects again, best source I had was homegrownaudio.com but they've since gone out of business.

Thanks in advance!

What type of cable, and with what type of parts do you wish to build?

Parts Express is rather limited in terms of parts quality to choose from.

Here's a few in no particular order. I've done business with all of them and consider each a high quality vendor:

Many years ago there was a link here at AA that described a method of creating DIY interconnects using pure silver (teflon coated wire) and teflon outter casing (found at any hardware or HD). I really liked the results. Once source mentioned was homegrown audio which was basically a one-stop shopping website but it has since closed.

I know there are many places online to get the pure silver, but is there a site (other than Parts Express) that is one stop shopping for all the parts needed (RCA's, wire, interconnects, etc.,) SIMILAR to homegrownAudio or DIYcable.com?

What would be the smallest gauge when using a single, silver strand in a RCA interconnect? Length varying between 3ft-8ft. Would 30ga be too thin?

Thanks all in advance-

I don't have much experience with DIY interconnects (although I do have a creation on the Cooker right now), but the very best sounding commercial interconnects I currently have are the (admittedly dated) Stealth PGS cables that use a 42 (!) gauge gold conductor. As silver is far more conductive than gold, I don't think 30 gauge is too thin at all from a conduction standpoint, so long as you can work with it (and use it) without breaking it.

VH Audio's AirLok insulated (cellular FEP Teflon dielectric) wire sounds great; better than solid Teflon, and the selection of rca connectors are of better quality than what Homegrown Audio offered.

See link:

CableCo has any wire in bulk which brand name cable makers sell. Cardas, Kimber.. etc., posted on January 16, 2017 at 14:51:52
I have purchased bulk Kimber wire from The Cable Co. online.
Small discount, over xx dollars free shipping, and the wire is drop shipped from the maker. IE Kimber ships the wire to you direct.

They just order it from the manufacturer. They don't actually have much of a stock, they pretty much just have everything drop shipped. You don't get much of a break in price for it.

True. I've not bothered ordering anything from The Cable Company since the 1990s.
