They are getting to be rare beasts. Many below have noted the need for a rotator, because good antennas like Yagis are directional -they work best when pointed in certain directions. So, first determine where your desired stations are. I'm lucky, all my regular stations are 'towards Boston'. I have a rotor on my rooftop antenna, but once I found my stations,I haven't had to repoint the antenna, one direction does 'well enough'. You need to know your stations and use http://www.fmfool.com/ to find out their coverage and what direction (use a compass) they are from your house/antenna. Also check out http://www.eham.net/ for reviews, they usually list prices and availability, but sadly we fm-ers are dinosaurs. If you're handy you might try building your own. Our own Tim Bailey "Timbo from Oz" references the 'rhombic', which I recommend as a high gain directional antenna, too.. It is built out of twinlead in the shape of a rectangle whose diagonal is pointed towards your desired station. Being not rigid and BIG it would be awkward to rotate, to say the least. The design plans are somewhere here under the home page. If your home is fortunately located and orientated you can build it by tacking the twinlead to your ceiling. Cheap and easy compared to bending metal, Highly recommended if it fits your needs.

Good luck! And if the jargon bogs you down get back to this forum. First determine your requirements! Who, knows? A lot of members have found thrift store rabbit ears to suffice. Once you get 'the Jones' you'll have a 30 meter tower in your back yard, and a madder wife :)
