I have access to test equipment and would like to align the FM tuner section of my MX118. According to the service manual one of the steps involves tuning three coils and three capacitors at 90 MHz and 104 MHz respectively for best sensitivity but does not state how to measure it. McIntosh could not imply using the inaccurate led signal meter?

This is an hour's work for an experienced tech if the tuner has no problems. Unless you live in the boondocks, take it to a pro.

I am quite capable of doing the work myself. Alignment instructions for the MR78 are quite clear and I successfully aligned my tuner. The MX118 does not have scope outputs like that tuner so I can't follow the same instructions. I am still looking for an answer.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Berner's or AK may have the manual online, or the group below may be able to help. Good luck!
