Wire size for audio out

I upgraded the RCA jacks on my Sansui TU-717 and was surprised to see that the shielded cable feeding them was 20 awg. That seems very small considering the beefy connectors I put in. What amperage do they carry and is there any benefit to be gained by increasing the wire size?

 per the attached wire information:

number 20 wire can carry 11 amps "within a chassis" and "transmit" 1.5 amps. Should be fine for audio work.

 It only outputs a volt. 20 gauge is fine. Whether THAT wire is still good and/or could be upgraded to better is another story.

 When Ben Jacoby rebuilt a VTL preamp for me he used very fine hookup wire and it sounds great. I've always used fairly heavy wire, but I guess those electrons are pretty small, and there may be advantages to small wire for low amperage applications.

 On the 717 or almost any pre amp level output, the is almost no current flow, so a large gauge wire is not needed.

For sound quality try using some Mogami console wire model 2977. It will be much better than the stock wire.
