All my electronics are solid state, so this product is targeted for a system like mine rather than those of you already running tubes.

Insert the box between source and amp (it has a GE 5670 inside.) A switch on the front allows selecting between the 'sonic signatures' of: SET, Push-Pull or Classic Tube amp. Presto, your choice of the 'magic of tubes' sound from a solid state system (!??)

Would be interested to hear if anyone with an actual tube system has had a listen? Thanks for any thoughts (Link below.)

" elevate the whole audio system from $100k to $1k "

Hmmm... I'm sure it's a typo or I'm not reading it right.

Otherwise, this site and offerings are really interesting.

Hope to hear more about it.

Thanks for sharing!

While iFi's info on their web-site can be a bit over the top, their stuff is very well engineered and voiced given the price points (they are part of AMR - Abington Music Research I think - AA long time industry participant Thorsten Loesch works there).

Anyway, I just got our order of iTube2's in a few days ago... I have not had a chance to fire one up yet... if its anything like their other recent analog gear (the new iPhono2 which came out a few months ago which I find t be VG for the $$$), it should a good little buffer/preamp.
These have just become available in the USA, so there is probably no commentary from end users out there yet.

Happy Listening,

Any simulation of a tube with SS in front or after the tube is not the real thing. SS amplifiers has a sonic veil over the sound vs a real tube amp.

I can recognize a 5 tube desk top radio playing vs SS every time even in another room.

When I hear a SS radio, I hear the SS radio playing. A tube radio playing kind of disappears leaving simply the voice.

For some reason it hit the spot, and I grew up listening to tubes (still do).

With me as long as the power amp is tube I usually can enjoy things after careful selection. If the amp is solid state there is no getting tube tone out out of the setup.

+1.....Tyson's review at AC hits the nail on the head. He's a tube guy and his evaluation is thorough.

Just wanted to say thanks very much for posting the link to Tyson's review. My system now has ONE tube! (Perhaps it will be a gateway drug?)
