I have a power transformer with an unknown B+ amperage rating.can an approximation be derived from knowing the voltage (425-0-425 vac)
and the resistance of the windings (55 ohms and 54 ohms)from
center tap to each B+ tap . any help would be appreciated.

How much does the transformer weigh? Do you know what it was pulled from? My guess is 150ma. JH

The Hammond 279X is speced at 850v, resistance end to end is 95 ohms. The transformer is rated for 173ma.

Tubeflash - I have often wondered about this too. So, I discussed with Edcor transformers and they said, you have to load down the secondary until the voltage drops by 10%. The current being drawn at that time should be the rated current. - Pete
