There are so many things that crossbreed with vacuum tube audio such as tubes, transformers, chokes, field coil drivers and general theory..Wait til you see this station and the mixing console. What a killer station(s)

I want this 160m trans but no room..Its why I had to get rid of my GE tube FM repeater that was less than half this size.

Older Hams grew up understanding electronics at an early age and especially so in the vacuum tube era. The early ARRL Handbooks was loaded with technical info and was the Ham radio guide to understanding electronics design.

Further, DIY was at times the only way to getting on the air with a transmitter.

Indeed, those old ARRL Handbooks were chock full of power supply and forgotten choke facts~nT, posted on October 24, 2014 at 08:41:42

Come on, he's only 5 years older than me, and I'm NOT old. I got my first ham license in 1972 at age 15. WN7TTS a novice ticket. Built my own transmitter from an article in CQ, and used a General Coverage receiver to get on at 80 and 40 meters. Lots of fun. It's a wonder I didn't kill myself somehow.

Not old, older hams? We don't find many 22 to 30 year old hams and audiophiles messing with tubes yet..
