What I had was an umbilical hernia and I let it go a few years and it didn't hurt at all but it looked like hell with that golf ball by your belly button which I no longer have.My daughter, mother, and sister made me get it done because the doctor's said it can strangle the lower intestine but I had no idea that it would take six weeks for healing..I can understand the abdominal ones where you lift and it puts strain on those muscles but one by the naval? That doesn't even make sense..Anyway the surgeon took out about a pound of excess cartilage that worked its way out of the tiny rupture which was the hernia and being I let it go five years,it stretched the skin so that's why I lost the naval....I then had residual bleeding about nine days after the surgery which was the old blood seeping out of each corner as it healed and then I got an infection which wasn't horrific but I've been putting Bacitracin on it twice a day and now things are getting better..

Your posts have been very valuable to me personally, and to countless other 'philes here as well, I suspect.

Glad to hear you are on the mend.

Stay well.

Mike, take it easy. Don't know if MD recommended this, but Vitamins A, D, and C seem to help the healing process.

Hang in there!

I sent you an email last week. I wouldn't have sent it if I had known you were on the mend. Please ignore it.

Take care.

Mike, I had mine 5 years ago in the form of a football sized tumor removed from my gut. Same deal, seemed like forever with no lifting. Hell of a way to lose 10 pounds...

I cant find where anybody else responding has said this, so I will.
Mike you are the most generous guy I have ever met on this or just about any other forum. You are the LAST person I would ever have expected to be at the receiving end of the abusive language that was launched recently. And true to form, here you are, responding as if it just passed you by.

You may be a nut (and I say that as a compliment, you're a glass bottle nut of the finest sort) but you are also a true gentleman.

Keep up da good work!

I'm glad you had the surgery, sorry to hear about the infection after. Happy to hear you are ok now.

I had the same thing back in 1993. It just appeared one day when I felt a pain on my stomach when I went to get off the recliner and saw that lump right next to my naval. After the operation It took along time to heal. even though it's healed on the outside the inside takes months to heals. like yours my cut seeped for a week, I just kept wiping it with peroxide, that helped heal it faster.

I have a nasty scare from that operation too due to some of the staples coming out on their own.

Just take it easy for a while and it will be ok.

Regards
Cougar

Mike,
Very glad you are back and posting! Albeit on "light" duty! LOL Enjoy our phone calls, especially while your recovery was the most trying. Even though our friendship is in its infancy it has felt like I have known you for quite some time.

It was really cool your excitement about how the Sansui was sounding! Now that you're fairing better hoping you find the time to post pictures of the unit and a blow by blow accounting of the rebuild. I think it would be cool!

Don't care and haven't read what shitty comments others have made, in the short time I've known you you have proven to be a stand up guy!

Best,

Dave

Mike,

Good to hear ya on the mend....surgery can be nasty...had surgery on my shoulder 6 weeks ago as a result of trying to catch a badly thrown Frisbee. Luckily no infection...but I can't lift my amps as I work on them...had a plate installed to heal the collar bone which has to be removed in December...which really sucks...getting old has some draw backs.. as someone else on the forum has reminded us "Beats the alternative"
