Hello guys! I purchase a PP console amp from a garage sale and although it sounds great and works fine (will update all the electrolytics in due time), it thumps when I turn it OFF (my speakers are ~100dB).

The amp only have two prongs on the power cord and I was thinking to solder say a 0.001 uF/1kV ceramic cap across hot and neutral and see if it will fix the thump but I do not have the cap (I hav, conservatively,45 kilos of caps in my possesion right now of different varieties like PIO, poly, electrolytic, ceramic, polyester, etc. and I cannot believe I do not have a 0.001 uF high V cap!!)at the moment and will get it tomorrow.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I would not use it unless you get it fixed. The thump indicates that the power supply holds no reserves.
