I dug this old deck out(Bought it after I graduated high school from Tech HIFI)) , and was wondering if it was worth repairing? It appears to work except that the belt is totally shot. Anyone know the replacement part number or measurements?

If the belt has disintigrated, take some string and loop it around the pulleys, same position as the old belt.

Mark the string where its end meets the other end of the string.

Take the string off and measure its length from the end to the mark. This gives you a circumference measurement.

Look at the pully and determine what kind of belt you need; if it is a v-groove, you need a square belt, if it is U groove, get a round belt, or flat belt for flat pulley. You get the idea.

You will have to estimate the width and thickness or diameter of the cross-section of the belt.

Check out http://www.ceitron.com they should have a selection of belts that would fit your deck or you can buy an assorted cassette deck belt kit for around $20.

Make sure you clean off the pulley if the belt has turned into goo or gum and wrapped itself around the pulley. A product like Goo-Off or similar latex /rubber remover does the trick quickly. Paint thinner works well also.
