So, I walk into this sleazy thrift store and there, in a glass display case is an owner's manual for a Nakamichi LX-3, still in the cellophane. Since I have an LX-3, sans manual, I thought I would take a closer look. There's a post-it note on the cellophane that says "Rest in box." Thinking there's another part of the manual, I asked for it and there it was! A Nakamichi LX-3 still in the freakin' box! I almost broke my arm reaching for my checkbook.

Now I see lots of tape decks in the thrifts and even a few NAKS. Mostly they are BX-1s or something else equally uninteresting but I've seen a couple LX-3s, both of which I now own. (I saw a Dragon at a Salvation Army store for $75! It was in beautiful condition but somebody had beat me to it and it was waiting for him to pick it up.)

I got the LX-3 home and took it out of the box and it is pristine. Even the dust is clean! MY WIFE starts asking me why I bought another cassette deck (I already have two NAKS and a Sony KE400S) so I tell her right off I'm gonna ebay it. That gets me off the hook (I had promised her I wouldn't bring any more orphans home) but it means I gotta be a nice guy and not a heel and ebay it! Me and my big mouth!

Anyway, it's done. I got to use it long enough to test it. Now it's all boxed up and ready to ship to some lucky high bidder. Wish me luck. And please tell me to think before I say "ebay" to the spousal unit.
