Is Nakamichi MR2 cassette deck a decent deck as compared to BX-300 or older 600BK cassette deck?

These restored decks are offered by Sounds Classic (http://www.soundsclassic.com/cassette_decks.html)

I used to own a ZX-7 cassette deck but sold it long ago, but still keep lots of cassettes recorded on the ZX-7 cassette deck which I am eager to listen to.

I am also wondering whether the Sounds Classic is a reliable seller (I didn't find any feedback).

Thanks in advance for your comments.

The MR-2 is a two head deck so not as good as the BX-300 deck which is a three head machine. The BX-300 is also a direct drive machine, the MR-2 is belt driven. The BX-300 is a dual capstan machine. If you are talking about the Nakamichi 600 (the one that is wedge shaped) it is not as good as either the MR-2 or BX-300 it was made in the early mid 70's whereas both the MR-2 and BX-300 are late 80's and early 90's machines.

IMO the BX-300 is a far better machine than either the MR-2 or the Nak 600.

As far as Sounds Classic is as a reseller, I don't know anyone that has purchased from them, but when I have looked at there web-site their prices seem a tad high.

You might want to try the Naktalk mail list, I am sure you can get a lot of info there.

Thanks for the info.

Sounds Classics does not respond (and did not respond a year ago), so I'll give up the idea of purchasing from them.
