and in unknowable condition.
4-T, 7-1/2ips.

Seller sight-grades it as "good". Which means could be worse, could be better. Bidders were taking a risk. It might be interesting to A-B sound test comparison this tape to a NM Lp from the original 6-eye Stereo period. Or perhaps one of the classic Records re-masters of same.

I think the record price was for the 2 (half) track version, posted on December 10, 2015 at 04:53:44

...I think the half track version (which doesn't include the entire original album) went for something 1200.00 a few years. Now that would be interesting...comparing the half track to the quarter track to the LP...

I think you may have the figures reversed. My recollection is that at least one 2-track KOB tape on Ebay went for $2100.

I think you're right on this one...., posted on December 11, 2015 at 07:07:00

a KOB in the $2K range does sound familiar. But a REAL shoot-out on KOB would be if the tape project did a KOB release...now that would depreciate the resale value of the old KOB half track tapes!

That would be interesting. I've had early-dupe (pie-shaped label) Columbia 4-tracks that blew away the 2-track version of the same album. Sonics vary from batch to batch on these tapes. Note that the $280 KOB was not an original dupe, which means it could have been copied at a faster speed.

People search for "hot pressing" lps. Now we are looking for the best sounding R2R of the same title. That could get extremely expensive real quick. I think I will just enjoy the music With the copy I have. Bought my 4-track KOB for $3 at a used record store pre eBay. :)
