There are still two current makers of new reel to reel tape.

There is PYRAL, which is the successor to RMGI which itself was a reincarnation of EMTEC.

They have three flavors of tape.

1.5 mil: SM-900 and SM-911

1.0 mil/long play LPR-35

And then there's ATR which sells its 1.5 mil "Master" tape.

Have you tried doing a search? There is at least one manufacturer - maybe two

You'll have better luck searching if you spell it right: "reel to reel".

I know, English isn't your native language - I'm just giving you a hard time.

Is is my opinion that THe aforementioned site is also a great place to get schooled on how to LEGALLY steal stuff in order to get your next score. Never pay full price for anything again. You just gotta know what loopholes, technicalities, and other legalities to look for and exploit to your advantage. Go there and learn how to build up a stash including tapes and gear for maybe pennies on the dollar. Most audio junkies despise 'flippers' so they will tell you how to 'stick it' to them and keep your money *and* get what you want.

Looking for that expensive and hard to find part for your favorite deck? Buy another one....pick the part(s) you need. Then file a claim as 'damaged'. You get your money back, the seller gets reimbursed. The shipper disposes of the item. And you just got yourself a score. Everyone wins except of course the shipper. But they can afford it. And there's a rare deck that ain't being made anymore at stake here.

TH is *THE* go to place for those kinds of tutorials. I agree. Check them out. It's a highly informative site. If you don't know where to begin, ask. They are an extremely helpful and friendly crowd there.

I see that the OP is no longer registered here. However for the benefit of other readers I found some links to recording tape for sale online. See below.

There still are sources for magnetic recording tapes. Cassettes and reel tape in various widths. 5yrs back I bought a 10.5 inch reel of Quantegy 499 (2500')for $29.99 at 'Musicians Friend' online. I searched that store today and did not find any tape at all. However the above links show stock for sale.

Then you could do like I did to gather the above links; search google with the key words; recording tape. Links come up when you do.

specific articles and posts describing such activities? A thread in particular?

I've been to the site more than once and I guess I don't see any 'articles' per se. So this nefarious information must be disclosed within various threads.
