It has a built in amplifier, but the speakers are missing..
I'd like to have a schematic if possible...

There appears to be plenty of info if you Google the model number. Not sure if it includes what you're after, though.

maybe "R" for "Recorder" (i.e., built-in amp and, perhaps also, speakers) -- and/or a portable?

Info for the A-1200U may be easier to find. Heck, I used to have one of those (heh, come to think of it, I have another one I picked up last fall cheap -- and nonworking).
