Akai 365D – playback level lower in reverse mode

My Akai 365D sounds great in both forward and reverse. However, in reverse play the volume is significantly lower. Ideas?

DRam Audiophile Posts: 1309 Location: Montana Joined: July 30, 2005	As a neophyte with tape decks I hesitate to offer advice, but: Clean heads? Are the heads adjusted properly? If the mechanical parts are in order one suspects electronics. The service manual for my GX636 has a section detailing forward and reverse amplifier level adjustment, your deck might also. That probably needs professional attention to accomplish.

vintageperson Audiophile Posts: 208 Joined: November 11, 2000	Chances are you have some switches and relays to clean. Most of the time that is the issue with this series of Akai.
