Anyone know what the tweeters are and whether they are still attainable?

It should have some numbers on it unless they were removed.

I don't think that Peerless tweeter is still available. Call Madisound and see if they have a replacement dome for it.

You'll likely have to replce both tweeters..., posted on February 25, 2017 at 08:59:33

I did some searches and did find some information on the model and specs, but even back in 2009, finding a replacement seemed impossible.

Are you looking at the pair on eBay?

If you can get them for under $200, it would seem to be well worth the effort to invest a little more for new tweeters.

Orig was a Peerless that is no longer made
Mark 2 was a Vifa XT, with "possibly a replacement", but not all Xt's are the same.

It's the original ones....n/t, posted on February 27, 2017 at 11:43:17

If Madisound does not have better suggestion, try this one

https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/seas-soft-dome-tweeters/seas-prestige-h1280-06-22tff-tweeter/

It is:
close in sensitivity (1db down at crossover but slightly smoother up)
quite close impedance at crossover frequency at 3kHz
diameter of ~100mm (which is it seems diameter of the original, check it)
similar dispersion
quite nice sounding and for
for very reasonable price.

For comparison see
http://www.parts-express.com/pedocs/specs/277-408-peerless-specifications-44282.pdf

Everything that you could loose is ~70$ (even less if you re-sell tweeters). Otherwise you have two large paper weights.

Note that it will not sound exactly the same, but may be good enough (or even better) for you.

If it works, you owe me a lunch :-)

A guy in my town is selling his Meadowlark Ospreys. He has them on craigslist and I went over for a listen. They sound wonderful and are in excellent condition. Just in case you are interested, it's in the FortMyers section of FL. I chickened out of buying them because I was afraid I would not be able to re-sell if they didn't work out for me. And, I'm getting too old to buy speakers that I can't lift. :)
